MahoganyHe does look a little like burnished wood here. One of the problems that I had with him indoors is not enough light -- limiting me to shutter speeds of 0.3 seconds or slower. Fortunately, these little guys often stay still for reasonable periods of time. As for using direct light or flash, they're too reflective, especially their heads. I guess I'm going to have to create a mantis tent and light it from the outside if I'm going to make more photos indoors.
